So, I was idling on irc as I normally do, when someone pasted a link to http://www.4wisemonkeys.com/dc-phone-scam/ . It seems there’s be a fair number of other people who have had this company prank call their mobile phones to scam them into calling a 1-900 number ( which of course is stupidly expensive ) claiming they have won a prize.
This my learned friends, earns them their moolah. Quite a sneaky way to scam people into calling the number.
The reason I post this is because out of curiosity, I checked my missed calls list. Surprisingly, I had not one, but THREE missed calls from various numbers on that list. I dont think i’ve had one recently, but I’m not too surprised – I’ve had the same number for going on 8 or 9 years now.
As for those of you who wish to find out for yourself, I’ll list the phone numbers here in case 4WM have to take their stuff down for any crazy reason.
