Eep. Second all-nighter of the semester.
Though, this has to be one of my better assignments. I’ve struggled getting one part done for the last few hours, but i think its been well worth it. I had to do some crappy little report, but I took the time to properly do it and indicate how i tested my program, with a minature test plan and everything. Its 15 minutes work, but it proves that i’ve put some effort into things, and it might just get me a few bonus marks for actually *completing* the test plan that I’ve proposed in the body of my report.
I do quite hate bash scripting though. I really do.
Why cant we learn something useful like perl? I mean, its a lot more powerful, and granted it might not be on *every single* platform that we visit, but given computing nowadays, its pretty much a given that unless we go and work on a 20 year old VAX, then we’ll have a pretty decent amount of resources to work with.
Also - I have the UFO aftershock game. I think Lo_pan reminded me of that genre of games on irc the other day by pasting a few links to some open source clones.. i never really got into them, but i’m going to give it a try and see how i like it this time. I think i understand a little more about how it all works. We’ll see - i guess.
ZZZZ.
Not-so-yay: First all-nighter of the year.
A-little-yay: IE project and management of client expectations are progressing to plan, and project easing into seperate phases now that clarification has been gained with respect to the nature of the project itself.
Yay: Easter break.
So - i’ve been a busy little project manager recently. We’ve had ups and downs in regards to *what* exactly our project *is*. A few iterations of what we thought it was, and we seem to have narrowed it down to a few discrete comonents. Had a demonstration of the technology we’re building our information management framework upon, and it seemed that it was well received.
Other things are as per normal. Had car fixed. Car still broken. Yadda yadda..
Really not much to report i guess. Really looking forward to this week off - i plan on making serious headway in a number of things related to the project.
So. Back to uni it is.
Monday morning 9am start. IE project. Got all the details for that, which was all fun and games, but i really felt like the black sheep, i’m one of the few members that has very strong programming skills, and i know virtually nobody, and the rest of the class has groups pre-prepared. I think i’ll just change tutes and get together with Benny and Neale, and find us some decent analysis/design people. Found out that with the load the IE project gives, i’ve got a roughly 56+ hour week as far as workload is concerned. Thats going to freakin *KILL* me.
Other than that, there was pleanty of hustle and bustle, with all the attractions on the common, including scantily clad nubile 18 year old 1st years. Was pleanty of eye candy to be had. Us final year students sat back with years of bitterness behind us and lamented the time when we were so naive and carefree.
Finally paid a few bills off too, and tomorrow, i should be pretty debt-free, for when my car repairs come in *groan*. Not going to be a happy chappy when i get the bad news there.
Tired, i’ve eaten so much today, and im still HUNGRY. Whats up with that.
Oh, and did i mention i hated 9am starts?
Well. That must have been a new kind of record
I went to uni for a total of 15 minutes, for my Web-based technology tute.
It’s totally ridiculous - i’ve done nearly all of the content before, yet they ( see - the evil money-grabbing university ) dont want to give me any credit for it.
On the upside - its a lot of PHP and the like, so I should be able to do pretty well out of it, which means higher marks, which means more chance of getting into honors. Which is good.
I think.
In other matters, my new bed is great, I need to get a fair bit of manchester and whatnot for it. We’re also getting a date in which we can move into the renovated house tomorrow, which will be interesting. For an 11-month contract thats taken over 30 months to (not even) complete, its curious to see how it turned out.
Mostly mundane other stuff has been going on, I cant say that ive been home too much, too busy seeing friends and stuff, just lazing about or doing some photography ( huzzah - joined the Monash Photography Club. ).
