Right! I got very bored, and very annoyed at the current state of my car, so I fixed some myself, and I have just gotten back from getting the mechanic to do the other important stuff. I managed to fix my passenger side seat AT LAST. Yes yes, I know, those of you who have ridden with me know of how terrible it was in that seat, and will probably be thinking "about goddamn time, Leif!". But I did it. It's nice and pretty.
This morning, I dragged my ass outta bed, and hauled it down to the mechanics at the ungodly hour of 8am. Was having the top hats, springs, and shockers replaced, for both front and rear. I've been meaning to fix the suspension for a while. The mechanic called after he'd done it all, and said that I needed new brakes urgently, which I knew - fscking father didn’t believe me. Got him to whack in the pads that were in the boot of my car, along with
krystal_'s boxes of Luvaware stuff. Quite embarrassing.
Not pleased about the brakes though - Dad was adamant about the fact they didn’t need replacing. There was ~1mm of pad left on it. I hate it when he believes himself so much I agree just to shut him up, I really should know better after the headlight globes he put in melted the contacts on the relay.
Also got a wheel alignment, and a quote for a new exhaust system. 550$ for genie extractors, fitted, and 290$ for the rest of the exhaust, including a straight-through muffler, and about 60$ for the tip I want at autobahn. Will think about it LATER. When I have more money.
I better go to class, eh.
SO. Life just trundles along like it always has.
I finally presented my TCS this Monday, and my lecturer was very pleased with what I had done. He wants the content ( the html page I wrote ) on a cd, so I’ll make some quick look changes, add in some other things, and it should be pretty much near perfect. Personally, I hate public speaking - I become nervous and then end up speaking at a million km/hr. I made a mental note to slow down, and make sure I was understandable, the overall reaction of the class, and the teacher was of being impressed, so that made all the effort worth it.
Tuesday was the normal Mexican night, the same old crowd, plus one, Jennay.
Wednesday I finished off the course exams in my Cisco UNIX class. What fun. Did 3 in about 45 minutes all up, including blabbering onto my teacher, Mark. Overall, I have an average of 90.53, which I’m very pleased with. Next week - Final. And my very first certification. It's not MUCH, but its something.
Today, I went out with rachbaby and krystal_ for lots of shopping. Managed to grab the advanced payment from Centrelink, so I’ll book in my car for the suspension ASAP, I really want to get it done, both for the improvement in handling it should give, and the brokenness it should take away. Figured if it was broken, might as well put something sportier back in.
I've been getting a terrible sense of boredom lately, the days keep on running into one another, with nothing but boredom in between. It's really quite sad, as even though schoolwork is hard, it gave me something to do. I might start working on my car a little, that way I can fix my car AND have something to do. It's a thought, anyways.
Well, I certainly have been busy lately. Decided that enough was enough, and started to fix all the stuff I hate about my car. To start off, I wanted to fix my headlights, which meant cutting the two cable ties that were holding the bit under the steering column on. I checked the fuses were alright ( and they were ) , so I trotted off to Holden, and bought the two plugs that keep it in place, which clicked in nicely. Found out that the relay for the high beams was the culprit, the little bugger had one contact practically welded in, it got so hot.
Mental Note - Don’t trust dad. I wanted brighter lights, so he bought me 100W globes. Which is what blew the relay back in January on holiday with Bonnie.
I replaced both my headlights, and the 'weather' lights, whatever the fuck they are, part of the "high beam" bit. I've yet to fix my seat, I have a hex-key that fits the bolt perfectly, but I want to take the seat out entirely, just to make sure I screw it in properly, and tight, and stuff. That involves borrowing krystal_'s brother's hex-key kit. I might just buy one.. undecided as yet. I don’t like borrowing stuff from people I barely know. Although, much <3 to krystal_ for allowing me to drag her around and listening to my constant annoying talk.
In other news, I've been very very bad with school, skipped lots of classes. I really shouldn’t, but I have very little motivation to go. I might start going back next week methinks.
Someone bring me a nice ~60W soldering iron and some solder, kthx. Oh. And maybe some heat shrink wrap. Kthx.
My dearest katty had myself, krystal_ and madcowmoo over for dinner. We had a LOVELY roast chicken with lemon and stuff up its bottom, as well as roast potatoes and salad stuff. It was a lovely meal indeed, filled up my tummy very nicely. For desert we had ice cream and cake and stuff. Was very very very full after all of that.
While we had desert, we watched The Man with Two Brains, which is krystal_’s favourite movie. It was quite whacky, but a good watch nontheless. We had to run away and escape straight after, as krystal_had to start her new job at 9am today, in which she woke me up at the ungodly hour of 7am to get ready for. Naughty!
During most of today, I continued on with some of my CCNA TCS ( Threaded Case Study ) stuff. ( I'm actually in class now, “learning” about “Three layer hierarchial design” woo! ). The presentation is quite complete, just needs a few fixes, bit more content, the others should be quite happy with the look and feel of the entire thing, if not, we have another week to make the changes.
Mmmm just got back from Mexican, and yet again, it was a lovely meal. Arrived about 7:35pm or so with krystal_, and met up with pneuman and katius. It seems we've got a fairly regular crowd going to this place - could it be the Ivanhoe Mexican meet replacement? Who knows!
It seems it was a setup, with all of the girls opting to make the guys ( i.e. me and Leigh ) drive tonight, so that they may get horrendously drunk. Lots of margaritas were drunk, as well as a couple of tequila sunrises and so, all up, I’m sure all of the girls were at the very least quite tipsy after the whole night. This time, I had the "los trios" or some such - 3 chicken taco's and a bit of rice. Was really quite nice - I might continue getting that from now on. I had a coffee and a couple of coke drinks other than that - was way too full for desert. Had a bit of a taste of Kat’s mouse, it was lovely, maybe next time I’ll save some room for mouse!
Other than that, I went into the city for the regular Tuesday Coffee Meet ™ with the guys. It was on-again/off-again for a bit, but I eventually made it, after I made a quick detour to Port Melbourne to grab a cd off Dan. Caught the train back with Dylan - he's nearby where I’m staying, so that’s kinda good, might catch up with him soon.
krystal_ and myself hosted a small gathering, due to the fact that she has no spare weekends till mid December. How sucky is that? Overall, the night was brilliant. Lots of IRCers came along, even rachbaby in her classic PJs. She's so cute sometimes, much <3 goes to her. I had my PC play MP3's through a stereo for the night, some of the tunes went down well with rachy and <lj user="curlthang">, so I’m happy with that. Played pool a lot with Chris and Matt, got a bit of my form back
Alas, the final term for my course has started. Was enrolled into the 4th semester of my CCNA tonight. Our group for the Threaded Case Study (TCS) was not even near finished - Cam went walkabout for 5 weeks, and as he was doing the IP addressing scheme, we weren’t really able to do too much. I've done a fair slog of the correlation - and a fair bit of the write-up thus far. The other group had their talk, I gleaned a lot of information off how they did their presentation, and I’m fairly confident I can put together something that'll be very pleasing.
I really must remember to fix my shaver - it's out of the smelly cleaning fluid, and I need a new foil. Hideously expensive though, that’s the sucky part.
Oh my! Went out last night with krystal_, pneuman and katius! Went to the classy establishment of Taco Bills in Croydon. The food was surprisingly good, better than the mexican place in Ivanhoe that we used to go to.. which shut down.
Was a busy boy today - headed out east to grab a Celeron 400 machine, bought a 10 gig hard drive off lordstorm, and grabbed some RAM from home, should be a nifty little PC when I get it all put together.. in which is proving difficult as there is NO SIGN WHATSOEVER of the screwdriver that was floating around before. I bet its gone down the same portal to another plane of existance that all those single socks from the dryer go to.
I swear - it's mocking me. The case is held on by one, ONLY one screw. And i cant undo it. It's just sitting there - ready to be done. Yet i cant.
Woe.
